Looking for good breakfast places in Orange County?

I am always on the hunt for the best breakfast spot (breakfast is my favorite meal of the day) so naturally, I had to make a list of some of my favorite spots in OC. Whether you’re looking for a great breakfast burrito, feeling something French or just want a spot to grab a coffee and a baked good, I have you covered with my personal recommendations.

1. Chaupain Bakery

Looking for a great French cafe? Chaupain Bakery is an incredible cafe in Orange County. From the quiche slices to the French breakfast wrap, they have so many good options on their menu. Their baked goods are incredible. I’ve had the plain, almond and pistachio croissants (all incredible). Chaupain is a great spot for brunch any day of the week, it’s casual and quick while also being high quality.

2. Hauté Cafe & Market

Hauté Cafe is one of my top spots for a healthy breakfast in Orange County. They offer breakfast all day and lunch options as well. Their menu is seed oil free and they also have gluten free options. The baked goods are always really fun and different. I’ve had countless things from their menu (all really good!), but you can never go wrong with a simple eggs on sourdough toast.

3. The Ramos House Café

Ramos House Café in San Juan Capistrano is such a classic. If you’re wanting a cozy brunch spot with a home cooked meal type of environment, this is it. They have brunch on the weekends and a weekday a la carte menu that you can order off of. The buttermilk biscuits with apple butter are a staple, their entire menu is really unique. This is a good Sunday brunch spot if you’re looking for somewhere cozy and quaint to try.

4. Breezy Restaurant and Lounge

Breezy Restaurant and Lounge is fun mix of Filipino and California breakfast food. They have an amazing ube pancake stack and longanisa (a sweet pork sausage). Every dish is made to order and they have great coffee too. It’s in a great spot near the mission if you are looking for breakfast or brunch in San Juan Capistrano. I sat on the patio and had my breakfast here and it was wonderful!

5. Ellie’s Table

Ellie’s Table is a cute breakfast spot located in Orange County. They serve homemade baked goods, breakfast plates and fresh pastries (croissants anyone?). They have vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. They also have brunch and a cocktail menu at their San Juan Capistrano location.

6. Everyday Eatery in Irvine

I stumbled across Everyday Eatery in Irvine after coming back from a trip that I was on. The food was so vibrant and beautiful and they had really great coffee too. They have breakfast all day (till 2:30PM). If you’re wanting a vegan breakfast in Orange County, they do have some options on their menu like the granola bowl or the nourish bowl.

7. Mayfield

Mayfield is a cute brunch spot in SJC. They serve breakfast, coffee and cocktails. Their Mediterranean menu is filled with things like shakshuka, Turkish eggs and countless other delicious dishes. Their brunch menu is available from Wednesdays to Sundays. They have vegan, vegetarian and even som nut free options if you have certain dietary preferences. It’s such a cute spot and the food is very high quality.

8. Moulin

Moulin is on repeat in my household. Whether it’s for a cappuccino and a chocolate croissant or for their amazing breakfast croissant sandwich, it’s an amazing breakfast spot in Orange County. They have multiple locations, my favorite being San Clemente because it’s right by the beach and you can enjoy a nice breakfast with a view. If you’re wanting a casual Sunday brunch spot, Moulin is a wonderful option.

9. Fermentation Farm

a breakfast sandwich with a fried egg and sauerkraut from Ferm Farm in Orange County

Fermentation Farm has a very farm to fable type of atmosphere and menu. They have a healthy breakfast menu with things like morning tacos, breakfast burritos, sourdough pancakes with grass-fed butter and the breakfast sandwich with pasture raised bacon and raw cheese (so good). Their menu showcases fermented goods like sauerkraut, kombucha and other fermented recipes – all great for gut health which I personally love.

10. Boil & Bake

Boil & Bake is a great bagel shop in Costa Mesa. Although not a traditional brunch spot, I have to add it on here if you are a bagel lover and looking for a good bagel for breakfast in OC. They have sourdough bagels which are all made in house. They house cure their own lox and get a lot of their ingredients from local spots. Everything on their menu is amazing and definitely the best bagel spot I have found in Orange County.

11. Eller Bakery

Eller Bakery in Costa Mesa is such an intentionally designed restaurant. Not only is everything made in house, they also have an organic menu that is seed oil free and full of thoughtfully sourced ingredients. Everything I had was delicious. This place is for you if you’re looking for a healthy brunch spot with clean ingredients that does not cut corners on flavor and intentionality.

12. Craft House

Located right on the PCH, a great Saturday or Sunday brunch spot in Dana Point is Craft House. They don’t use seed oils in their menu and use beef tallow and avocado oil for cooking. Their menu includes yummy plates like eggs Benedict, breakfast burritos and steak and eggs. The craft house smash burger with grass fed patties is also a great choice!

13. The Cellar

The Cellar in San Clemente is a great restaurant for brunch or breakfast in south Orange County. They make amazing lattes and have one of the best cheese boards around. Their French toast is really good but you won’t go wrong with anything on their menu. It’s a cute wine bar and the environment is awesome for a Saturday brunch spot. I recommend sitting on their patio if you can find a spot! It’s one of my favorite spots in San Clemente.

14. Tru Bru Organic Coffee

I stumbled across Tru Bru Organic Coffee one morning searching out organic coffee spots in Orange County. They have a few locations in OC, I went to the Irvine one. I ended up getting the breakfast scramble and they cooked it in butter for me (was not wanting any added oils). I got a cappuccino and ate it outside and it was really nice. This is a great breakfast spot in OC if you’re wanting to grab something quick and casual.

15. Rye Goods in Laguna Beach

Rye Goods is another fave for a quick breakfast in Laguna Beach. If you know me, you know I love a spot that goes above and beyond with how they source their ingredients and prepare their food.
