Another Food Blog – Yay

This blog has been a long time coming. I am always the dedicated person on trips to find the absolute best spots to eat and drink and I do tend to find the best spots, if I do say so myself. I have more food photos on my phone than any other type of photo, I spend my free to looking at new places to eat and if I could do anything, and I mean anything for the rest of my life, it would be to travel around and eat and drink my way through life.

I don’t go out to eat, to eat. I go out to eat for an experience. Going out to eat is such a multi-sensory experience. You get the environment of where you are, the energy of the people, the music, the sound of silverware clinking together, the taste of the food, the smells, all of it – I just love it. Some people get energy from going on a run, I get energy from going out to eat or going to new coffee shops – it just makes me feel ALIVE.

So, let’s rewind to about 6 months ago. I found myself at one of my favorite restaurants in downtown San Clemente. I was sitting next to this amazing woman I met who asked me what I did for a living. I went on to tell her how I recently quit my job and basically had no idea what I was going to do. She went on to tell me that she plays the violin for a living. I asked her how that came to be and she began to tell me a story of how years ago, she was in school to become a lawyer, and one day she found herself walking coffees to her boss, profusely sweating in downtown Washington, when she realized that was not what she wanted to do with the rest of her life. She had played violin since she was a child and decided that she wanted to do something that she loved for a living. It was the most inspiring story and I could just feel her energy and excitement for what she did everyday, it was beautiful!

She asked me what I LOVED to do – and I immediately knew. I love going out to eat, I love food, I love traveling and exploring new places and spots to eat, I love meeting new people and having the most unexpected conversations, I love taking photos. I remember being younger and secretly stealing my dad’s really nice camera to go take photos of our hibiscus flower bush outside. He never let me use it because he thought I would break it – but I got my small fix of photos when he wasn’t looking.

I have been pondering this idea of a food or travel type of blog for a while and thought, what a fun hobby it would be to blog all of my food and hospitality adventures.

Going out to different spots has always been so fun and therapeutic for me. I have worked remotely for over 10 years and am usually such a homebody, so going out gives me the energy and balance that I crave. Not only that, but I have met some of the greatest people while out eating or drinking somewhere. Going out gives you community and connection if you are open to receiving it and that is something that I love so much about it. Going out to eat has not only reminded me of how much I love doing things by myself, but it has also allowed me the opportunity to connect with some incredible people and have some profound conversations that I never would have had if I just stayed home and ate.

My intention with this blog is to share both the healthier type of spots, but also the ones that you just can’t miss out on. If you know me, then you know I value my health and wellness and am very thoughtful of the foods that I put into my body. I do tend to find the spots who offer ‘cleaner’ options – but I also have found so many great spots that may not always fit my diet exactly that absolutely need to be experienced, so I will be sure to share those too!

Here is to sharing some really great spots and my experiences along the way. I hope you enjoy!
